Yumiko holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Horticulture from University of California, Davis and a Master of Landscape Architecture from University of California, Berkeley. Having worked in various horticultural roles, from an exotic ornamental nursery, medicinal garden, to a florist in both Japan and United States, Yumiko’s approach to landscape is rooted in ecology and ethnobotany. She is also an avid hiker, whose love for California's inimitable nature drives her to explore the creative translation of deep nature experience into a legible designed landscape.

Yumiko brings her skills of life-centered approach, striving for a coexistence of human and non-human inhabitants in every project.
