Riviera Residence
An existing Spanish style house was being renovated inside and out, prompting the owner to reimagine the garden rooms around the dwelling. From the entry sequence, around to the fountain garden, through the winding east walk, to the outdoor dining experience at the pergola and up the steps to the pool, all paving and planting was replaced to create a series of garden moments, providing outdoor living space.
Brentwood, CA
We worked with Malibu Tile to design custom tiles for the pool waterline tile, the spa coping, the entry walk fountain and the south courtyard fountain, incorporating the colors found in the existing tiles surrounding the front door.
Salvias, Dietes, Westringia and Acanthus were introduced in clusters along the crushed gravel walk, providing a multisensory experience along the path. Colonial Cream stone was used to pave the patios and sitting areas, adding a softness to the outdoor rooms.
A custom pergola with an outdoor kitchen and a pizza oven was constructed outside the kitchen and living room, expanding the indoor living space to the back yard. The pool was refinished to include the custom waterline tile and the pool deck on the north side was reclad and furnished with all new couches and chairs.
Out front, two custom gates were designed to continue the Spanish theme of the house with iron bars that relate back to the iron work on the balcony railings. Lastly, a mail and parcel box was installed at the parkway, incorporating custom tiles for the address numbers. The new garden rooms provide a lush extension of the interior spaces, enlivening and expanding the living spaces of the residence.
